How to use Facecast in Discord voice + video calls

Discord reads camera devices through the OS. Once OBS Studio exposes the Facecast tab as a virtual camera, Discord picks it up automatically — works in any server, any voice channel, any video DM.

  1. 01

    Open the Facecast swap

Sign in at facecast.org, grant webcam, pick a face. The filtered video should be live in your browser tab.

  2. 02

    Install OBS Studio

    obsproject.com — free open-source, ~60-second install.

  3. 03

Window Capture + Start Virtual Camera in OBS

OBS Sources → + → Window Capture → pick the Facecast browser window → crop to the video panel. Bottom-right → "Start Virtual Camera".

  4. 04

Switch your Discord camera to OBS Virtual Camera

Discord → User Settings (gear icon) → Voice & Video → Video Device dropdown → "OBS Virtual Camera". The Discord preview thumbnail updates to your swapped face. Join any voice channel with video on, or start a video call in any DM, and your filtered face is what other Discord users see.

TipDiscord caches the camera device list per session. If "OBS Virtual Camera" does not appear, fully quit and relaunch Discord — not just close-to-tray.

Frequently asked

Does this work for Discord Go Live screen sharing?

Yes. Discord Go Live can use any OBS scene as the source, including the Facecast window capture. Or use the OBS Virtual Camera approach above and Go Live with your "webcam" — same result.

Does this work on Discord mobile?

No. Discord mobile uses the device camera directly. Facecast + OBS is a desktop / laptop setup. Mobile Discord users would see your real face if you join from your phone.

Will my Discord friends know I'm using a filter?

Only if you tell them or if the filter is obviously a different person. They see your face like any other webcam feed; Discord has no API surface to detect that the video is software-generated.
