Swap in the browser
Open the control room, allow the browser to use your webcam, and pick a face. The swapped video runs in that tab — that tab is where your camera actually lives for the rest of the session.

Bridge it with OBS
Install OBS Studio, add a Window Capture pointing at the Facecast tab, crop it to the video panel, and press Start Virtual Camera. OBS is free, open-source and made by the OBS Project, not by us. This step is a one-time setup.

Pick the camera in your app
Your destination now lists OBS Virtual Camera beside your real webcam. Select it and everyone on the call sees the swapped video as an ordinary feed. No plugin, no extension, nothing for them to install.
What the control room gives you
One screen: your camera on the left, the swapped return on the right, and the controls that matter during a call. The destination you picked stays pinned at the top so the handoff is never guesswork.
Your face or a preset
Upload a portrait or use one of the built-in faces. Swap targets can be changed mid-session without dropping the call.
Occlusion and mirror
The occlusion mask is on by default so a hand in front of your face is a hand, not a smear. Mirror flips both panels together.
Recording
Record the swapped return to a local file when you need the output as well as the call.
Adaptive quality
The stream drops bitrate when your connection loses packets and recovers when it stops, instead of freezing on you.

You open the control room at facecast.org, let the browser use your webcam, pick a face, and the swapped video appears in the tab a few seconds later. To make that video the camera other people see, OBS Studio — free, open-source, installed once — captures the tab and publishes it as a system camera device called OBS Virtual Camera. Discord, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, vMix and anything else with a camera picker then list that device next to your real webcam; selecting it is the entire handoff, and nobody else on the call installs anything. Facecast runs in desktop and laptop browsers on macOS, Windows and Linux. Phones and Chromebooks can show you your own preview but cannot publish a virtual camera. The first thirty minutes are free.

The questions that come up before a call
Which platforms does Facecast work with?
Any desktop app that lets you choose a camera. We publish step-by-step guides for Discord, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and OBS Studio. vMix and other Windows switchers read the same virtual camera as a video input, so the OBS guide covers them too.
Do the other people on the call have to install anything?
No. They receive the swapped video as your camera feed. The install is on your machine only, and it is OBS Studio, once.
Why is OBS Studio part of this?
A browser tab cannot register itself as a system camera. OBS captures the tab and publishes it as one, which is why the same setup works in every app rather than needing a per-app plugin. OBS is free and open-source; we are not affiliated with the OBS Project.
Does it work on a phone or a Chromebook?
You can open the swap and see your own preview, but neither can publish a virtual camera, so the meeting app will not list Facecast as a camera. Use a macOS, Windows or Linux desktop or laptop for the meeting itself.
What happens when the free minutes run out?
You keep your account and your saved faces. To keep streaming, buy a Day Pass for a single event or a Pro plan for continuing use — the 30 free minutes are a gift on sign-up, not a countdown to a locked account.
The camera does not appear in the picker. Now what?
Confirm OBS says Stop Virtual Camera, which means the device is running. Then fully quit and relaunch the destination app — Discord, Teams and browsers all read the camera list once at launch, so a device created afterwards needs a restart to show up.
Can I put overlays on top of the swapped video?
Yes. Inside OBS the Facecast capture is an ordinary scene source, so text, alerts, logos and browser widgets layer over it the same way they do over a webcam.
What is not here yet?
There is no first-party virtual camera for Facecast, no SDI or NDI ingest and no published uptime commitment. When any of that ships it will be described at the point of the claim, not implied by the page.
